Rebeka’s Story
Rebeka Verea --
beautiful, spirited, hoping to serve her community as a
medical assistant -- was killed in a car accident the
very day she graduated from high school. Thousands
of people she touched through her smile and her
generosity attended her funeral. We have decided to
start a foundation to focus on the prevention of
accidents like the one that robbed Rebeka of her dreams.
This non-profit organization needs your support. Your
donation ensures that Rebeka's memory helps all those it
can. The accident, on June 20, was
all-too-avoidable. A celebration after graduating from
Cliffside Park High School culminated in a high-speed,
motor-vehicle accident on West Side Avenue in North
Bergen. This road, known for accidents and used by kids
as a speedway, claimed one more life prematurely.
She was to start college soon, on her way to becoming a
medical assistant and serve her community, just like her
father Dr. Jorge Verea, and her older sister, Vickie,
who is in her second year of medical school. Rebeka
displayed amazing social skills and a caring
disposition, like her mother, Lourdes.
Her family insists that their daughter's death not be in
vain. They are dedicated to bringing awareness to other
kids and to parents about safe driving.
